School of Pharmacy outreach
Concordia University Wisconsin offers endless outreach opportunities for people of all ages to visit and enjoy the campus, ranging from academic conferences to volunteer events. Community involvement has a critical role at Concordia, and in the School of Pharmacy. We want our students to not only be proficient in their field but with a servant mindset, eager to go out of their way to treat people in a Christian manner. Be sure to check out all of our events on the upcoming events page!
A few of our efforts include:
This effort is run by our group of students in American Pharmacists Association – Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP). It is an educational program that increases public awareness of prescription medication abuse and encourages health care providers, community leaders, parents, teens, and college students to actively work to prevent abuse.
CUW is a designated drop-off site for unused or outdated prescription medication drugs, part of the Drug Enforcement Administration's National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. Our students, faculty, and staff volunteer at the event every year. We proudly partner with the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office and the Mequon Police Department to ensure the drugs are disposed of safely.
Through a partnership with the American College of Apothecaries, Concordia University Wisconsin is one of four sites nationwide to offer nationally acclaimed training courses for professionals looking to further their skills in pharmaceutical compounding. Concordia hosts a slate of courses relevant to pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, marketers, and pharmacy students. The hands-on pharmaceutical compounding training courses will be taught by CUW Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Science Nancy Stoehr, PharmD, FACA, FIACP. This year's training offerings include Fundamental Compounding & Calculations and Veterinary Compounding Essentials. Click on the links for more information and to register.
