At Concordia, we equip our graduates with both the skillset and confidence to excel in the top tier of nursing. Our knowledgeable faculty are here to assist you every step of the way, and our accelerated format allows you to finish your nurse practitioner degree faster. From daily interaction with like-minded students and nursing professionals to dedicated instruction on how to blend your calling with your career, Concordia’s online MSN will challenge you and advance your knowledge in areas such as health policy, advanced pathophysiology and pharmacology, and evidence-based practice, just to name a few. And with consistently high AANP and ANCC certification pass rates, you can be confident that our graduate nursing degrees will prepare you fully to take the next step in your career. So, if you’ve got the drive to succeed, let us help you get there.

Board certification exams

Upon completion of the MSN program, you will need to pass either the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) board certification examination to gain certification and practice as a nurse practitioner. Concordia students consistently score higher than the national average on the AANP and ANCC board certification exams.

What to Expect

Choose between our Master of Science in nursing or our Post-BSN to Doctor of Nursing Practice programs in order to advance your career and become a nurse practitioner in a primary care setting. Your academic advisor will work with you to create a personalized progression plan after you’ve applied and been accepted. Students are required to attend a one-day, face-to-face orientation at the beginning of the program. Our orientation is an important aspect of our program allowing you to network, meet your instructors, and meet the nursing cohort you’ll be working alongside throughout the program. The subsequent courses are entirely online in either an 8- or 16-week format. Click on the “Progression Plans” tab above to see examples of our full- and part-time course projection options.

MSN students are required to complete 750 hours of clinical hours within a primary-care clinic setting. Concordia has a review process for clinical site placements, but ultimately students are responsible for finding their own preceptors. Starting in fall 2024, Advanced Health Assessment will be a hybrid course where students will be required to participate in a 2-3 day hands-on interactive on-campus experience.

Concordia is about more than just advancing your professional values - we're about collaborating, communicating, and translating scholarship into practice. Our graduate nursing programs will ground you holistically, increase your knowledge of healthcare, and allow you to continually enhance patient care, giving you the ability to excel in the top tier of nursing. When you finish, you'll be ready to help others in ways you never envisioned.

Please note: International students (those who were educated outside of the U.S. and/or require an F1 visa) are not eligible for this fully online program.
