Animal Assisted Therapy Certificate
This Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) Certificate is available to professionals currently practicing in a field.
The Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) Certificate is offered to professionals currently practicing in a field that would lend itself to the incorporation of animals to assist clients in reaching their identified goals. Concepts covered in this certificate can also be applied to an educational setting.
AAT is defined as goal-oriented, planned, structured, and documented therapeutic interventions directed by health and human service providers as part of their profession. It harnesses the strength of the human-animal bond to create a positive therapeutic environment for clients. A wide variety of disciplines may incorporate AAT into their professional practice - occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, therapeutic recreation specialists, nurses, social workers, behavioral health professionals and educators. A minimum of one year of experience in professional practice is preferred for participation in the certificate program.
