I received my undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and graduated with a Health Promotion/Wellness degree and emphasized in Business Administration and Nutrition. I’ve been teaching both on campus and through the elearning department at CUW since 2002.
I attended Concordia University-Wisconsin for my graduate degree in Educational Counseling. From 2001-2008 I was employed by St. Francis School District as a Guidance Counselor for St. Francis High School. For six of those years, I took the role of Director of Guidance, and was the only guidance counselor for nearly 600 students. Needless to say, time management, task prioritization and detail are characteristics that I utilized daily. My husband and I have been blessed to have adopted two children, and since June 2008, I became a stay-at-home mom.
As a guidance counselor, I conducted several groups on various issues (smoking cessation, depression, self-esteem, to name a few), organized all major testing in the building, including AP, WKCE, PSAT, PLAN and ACT, conducted financial aid presentations, mentored student interns and developed, created and organized career days. I continue to attend workshops and trainings, read articles and take educational courses on specific counseling topics to increase my knowledge on new research.
