When not teaching, I spend 50% of my time in the counseling center at CCAL. Last year, I developed a Behavioral Awareness Project called Project: PATHWAY (Prevention Awareness Training Holistic Wellness Advocacy in Yielding healthy communities) to help address the health concerns of students, and provide students with the knowledge of health issues that may affect their overall quality of life. The two main focus of this project was to educate college students on mental illness and substance abuse and the impact it has on their age group. I served in the US Army for 8 years and was deployed once to Jinotega, Nicaragua for a humanitarian mission. I ended my time in service in January 2001 as a Sergeant.
